Choi Insu studied sculpture at Seoul National University and graduated from its graduate school. Choi also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe, Germany, and presently works as an honorary professor at his alma mater. He has held 14 solo shows at Gallery Space, Gallery Seomi, the Total Museum of Contemporary Art, Gallery Simon, Indang Museum, the Moran Museum of Art, Date Gallery,and Gallery Shila.
He has been invited to international and domestic group exhibitions held in Torino and Rome, Italy; Hawaii, the USA; and Nagoya, Japan as well as at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea; Museum San; the Seoul National University Art Museum; the Pohang Museum of Steel Art; Daegu Art Museum; the Busan Museum of Art; the Seoul Olympic Museum of Art; and the Seoul Museum of Art. His pieces are chiefly housed in the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art,Korea, the Total Museum of Contemporary Art, the Moran Museum of Art,Olympic Sculpture Park, Daejeon government building, ASEM building,and the Pohang Museum of Steel Art. He was awarded the Total Art Awards grand prize in 1992 and the Kim Se-jung Sculpture Award in 2001.
1946년 출생한 최인수는 서울대학교에서 조소를 공부하고 동대학원을 졸업하였다. 국립칼스루헤 미술대학에서 수학하였으며 서울대학교 미술대학 명예교수이다. 공간 화랑에서의 첫 개인전을 시작으로 갤러리 서미, 토탈미술관, 갤러리 시몬, 인당뮤지엄, 모란미술관, 데이트갤러리, 갤러리 신라 등에서 총 14회의 개인전을 개최했다.
지금까지 이탈리아 토리노, 로마, 스위스 비엘과 르랑드롱, 미국 하와이, 일본 나고야 등 국제전을 비롯하여 국립현대미술관, 뮤지엄 산, 서울대학교 미술관, 포항시립미술관, 대구미술관, 부산시립미술관, 소마미술관, 서울시립미술관 등 다수의 국내 단체전에 초대되었다. 대표 소장처로는 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 토탈미술관, 모란미술관, 올림픽조각공원, 대전정부청사, ASEM 빌딩, 포항시립미술관 등이 있다. 토탈미술상 대상(1992), 김세종 조각상(2001)을 수상했다.
